Origin

From Idukki.

A short guide to the land, climate, produce and people behind Pure Idukki.

01

THE LAND

Ridges, valleys and shola forest.

Idukki is a hill district in the Western Ghats, marked by steep terrain, deep valleys and patches of forest that cling to the high ground.

Plantations step up the slopes in terraces and rows, shaped as much by the contours of the land as by the people who tend them.

02

THE CLIMATE

Cool air, mist and monsoon.

Higher elevations bring cooler temperatures than the lowlands, and the south-west monsoon delivers abundant rain.

Mist settles over the hills for much of the year. It is a climate that suits many of the crops the region is known for.

THE PRODUCE

Spices, tea, coffee and honey.

The district is associated with cardamom, black pepper and cinnamon, with tea and coffee grown on its slopes, and with honey drawn from the flora of the Western Ghats.

Each of these has its own season, its own method and its own character.

THE PEOPLE

Skill that stays in the hands.

Picking, drying, sorting, roasting and packing are learned over years. Many families have worked with these crops for generations.

We are building Pure Idukki around that experience, and we plan to share more about the people behind each product over time.

THE JOURNEY

From hillside to your home.

Products are selected, checked and packed with care before they leave Idukki. We want each one to arrive tasting and smelling the way it should.

It is a simple journey: from the land, through careful hands, to your kitchen table.
